Tinker lyman who is a wonderful friend and a loyal customer needed a horse for her 8yo granddaughter...She came down and the older horse named Jones that was advertised on this website found Tinker and stole her heart..so, she made the trek down to show him to Kiersten and Jones chose her as his person (of course, his main caretaker, Granny Tinker is probably the love of his life!..Especially at feedtime!) Kiersten has trail ridden, shown, loaded, washed, tacked and hung out with the fine olde gentleman...he is in "granddaughter raising" right now and doing a good job! He is very loved by his two new girls!!!

From Jen Guerney:
Jen's mom and dad, Mr and Mrs. Harry Delayer came over to look at ponies and Mr. Delayer picked out one of the cutest paint brothers we had for his granddaughter in New York. I must say I was red faced when Jen emailed me, she had to describe which pony....but she states he is the best thing since sliced bread!!!He's a little chestnut and white paint and he had a full brother for sale as well. I'm kicking myself I didn't buy both! Anyway, we named him Nemo and he's the best! I took him to his first show last
September for Eliza'a first leadline and had at least 5 people ask if he was for sale. Of course he's not! He's a family member for life!
I got a wonderful call from a customer/friend this evening. Chuck and Beth Younger and their family (son, Chris and daughter, Sarah) have purchased horses from us to play Polocrosse on in the past few years. They actually invited us to a Polocrosse match at Lexington, VA (Pony Club Finals) a couple years back.. we loved it!!!! Their first purchase was Penny, who is now teaching lessons once in a while and enjoying life. Their second purchase was a nice little polo mare named Amore for their daughter, Sarah. Sarah and Amore are trying out for the US team..how exciting is that? The third horse was the reason for a call from a beaming owner..a call that means so much to us...Chuck, you will never know how you made our day...Gata was purchased by Chuck for himself - and that is a good thing..Gata is a tempermental ole' girl that LOVES Chuck...he and Beth have just returned from Florida where Chuck and Gata played in the International Polocrosse Tourney and their team was 2nd in the World..and according to Chuck..Gata was a star!!! She loves the game..then he proceded to tell me that he not only plays Polocrosse, but, he also hunts/hilltops her! Their last purchase was Elle, a mare that I played polo on for a few years and one of my favs, she is doing well for them..their son Chris, accoridng to Chuck rides her and she is amazing for him..We love calls like this, they brighten our day for sure and make us love what we are doing even more!!! Pics of the Younger family and their horses to follow.
I have been very pleased with doing business with D and L Livestock. Lynda Payne is very honest, and she "tells you like it is" with the horses she is selling. I got a very good buy on a nice horse named Red, who has some arthritis which Lynda was honest with me about. He has worked out nicely for lessons for children and adults, ranging from beginning lunge lessons to people learning to jump. He has stayed sound for me for lessons (I have kept him on an arthritis supplement for maintenance). I have several students who absolutely love Red. I would gladly do business with D and L livestock again, and I would gladly recommend them to friends looking to buy a good horse. " -Satisfied customer in Tazewell, Virginia.
Hi Lynda,
Reggie is doing great. He is gaining weight and loves his new "cow brothers". They stay together in the field all day long.
Initially,Reggie was brought in each night (due to a lot of grassy pasture) but nowstays out with his buddies. He seems much happier not spending the night alone. He was great for his first appointment with the ferrier. He didn't even seem to mind the hot shoeing. This week the equine dentist is coming to check his teeth. Margaret will take him out for the first timefoxhunting tomorrow. He is showing us his true personality as he has gained in nutrition...a bit more spirited......Today, Reggie had a bath to get ready for hunting ..he continues to love hoses....
Hi Lynda,I just wanted you to know that Hallie and I are doing GREAT !!. I swear ,she gets better every time I ride her and I ride her a lot. We go into the mountains twice a week—well befor the time changed, and I ride her in my ring other days. She is truly a pleasure, and agreeable to whatever I ask of her. I LOVE this mare. The mountains are very challenging every kind of terrane, very very steep in many spots, shes right there every step. We ride for about 3-4 hours up there. The guys I ride with can’t get over the change in her from the first ride I did with them. I can’t thank you enough for bringing her to me. I think I told you,my psycic friend told me for two years I was going to own a Ginger colored mare and I kept telling her she was NUTS !!. LOL Also she told me Hallie was my horse in another life that’s why we bonded so fast. Well who knows, but it is weird how fast we feel familiar. Thanks again and I’ll keep you posted from time to time. I hope all is well with you and your family. Cyndy
A MATCH THAT WAS MEANT TO BE! MICHELLE AND LACIE HAVE TAKEN TO EACH OTHER LIKE OLD FRIENDS!
I’m sorry it took me so long to get you pictures of (Rosemary) I have however, changed her name to Lacie, she responds to it like she has had this name all her life. I did manage to get a few pictures this evening. And I want you to know she is such a joy and the sweetest horse you would ever want to be around. She follows you around everywhere, and this is without a halter. I do not need to halter her in the field to come into the barn, she follows me right in. She loves getting as much attention as she can get. I really thank you for thinking about me when you got her, she has been a blessing. Keep up the great work in matching the right horses with the right owners. God has truly blessed you. Thank you, Michelle and Brian Frye - Mt. Jackson, VA (It is with great sadness that I must report Michelle lost her beloved Lacie to a very freak accident recently..our prayers and thoughts are with you Micelle and Brian)
HERE'S TO GOOD FRIENDS! Christy came to us needing a good horse to trail ride and enjoy a friendship with..here's her recent note:
HI Lynda - Wondered if you might like to see Sky (aka Triad- aka Moonshine Maiden), taken spring/early summer?
September 10th was 2 years since bringing her home. Do you remember…. I came to look at the mare Monkey Face and test rode the young gelding who wouldn't move out for me? You pointed at Sky…saying she was your trail horse. It was all over! On that September morn your fields were covered in mist….she looked so magical. I'm planning on growing old with her. IF EVER I'm looking for another horse OR know someone who is….you are the first place we'll check out. You are the BEST.GREAT to see you again and THANKS for Sky !! CHRISTY
THIS IS WHAT IT IS ALL ABOUT!! Grammy Roseanne Boykin came to us to buy a horse and a pony to just plain enjoy..not to show, just to have in their field out back and ENJOY..Her grandchildren got a great welshX named Tinkerbelle and Grammy got her dream palamino named Trigger. When we see smiles like this it means something is working and going well!!!....good luck Boykin Clan...and ENJOY!!!
CONGRATULATIONS TO REBA AND STEPPIN' OUT (aka Sneakers)..Reba came with her family and her trainer to purchase a horse to show last year. She has worked very hard and had great support from her family. Her trainer, Mary Svalstedt from Buckingham Eq. Center has spent many hours with Reba as well. The pair were rated #3 of the VHSA (associate program) in the Short Stirrup Program. Recently, Reba and her family came back with Mary and they have purchased their future show horse, "Dream Come True" - Reba has shown him a couple times and he has always been in the ribbons. We attended the finals at Lexington in November and we were so proud of Reba and Steppin out..They looked spiffy and did well...They stand 3rd in the VSHA (associate program) in Short Stirrup!!!! We just got a lovely thank you note from Reba's Mom, Penny...they are still smiling and were back in the show ring winning today(Dec 18) at Speak Easy Farm's Winter Series!!! What a pair, we are very proud of you guys!!!
